We stayed at **Ablacus Naufrage** in one of the swim lodges for a week with my wife and our dog, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The venue is absolutely stunning and exceptionally well maintained. The surroundings are beautiful, with incredible wildlife and several picturesque lakes. The on-site restaurant is excellent, and the clubhouse is well stocked with all the tackle and essentials you could need.
The fishing was second to none. I landed over 40 carp in a week, all of them incredibly hard-fighting fish. My biggest was over 42lb, and every capture was a real pleasure.
Theo and the other bailiffs were fantastic hosts. They gave us plenty of space to enjoy our holiday but were always available whenever we needed anything. They were friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the fishery.
We’ll definitely be returning. It’s an amazing place already, and you can see that it’s only going to get better. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a first-class carp fishing venue in France!

This cabin & lake has captured my imagination and I shall return in 2027, perhaps April, to try & unlock the secrets of this lake.

From the very first contact of booking the venue, to leaving the venue, the whole process was so easy.
On arrival we were greeted by the owners, and to note, the Accomodation we had for the Friday evening was first rate, and were treated like returning friends rather than new guests, Bertrand, Theo and the family are unbelievably welcoming and completed the experience, nothing was too much trouble, went out of their way when needed and were on call at any time.
The facilities are first class, no detail misses and we wanted for nothing, the only slight disappointment was the fishing, which was conditions related, and very snaggy around the margins, we spoke to Theo and he is on with improving that.
In all, was an extremely enjoyable and relaxing venue and experience and one we will be revisiting, it feels like we have made very good friends in the process.
We had the best time at this lake, owners and staff were absolutely excellent. The lake has only been open 2 years and has a good head of fish, we had 7 of us fishing 20 fish out between us for 13lb to 71lb. The cabins were great well equipped and very comfortable.when we arrived the vibe about the place made us very comfortable, all bait we ordered was ready and a tackle shop has anything you need. There is a lot of work going on to improve this delightful place , but not here the lakes so you are not disturbed at all. This is a five star 🌟 venue we are just about to book for next year.

A challenging week. It’s started well with big westerly winds, low pressure, overcast and mild temps with 9 fish in one night. The action slowed day by day due to hard conditions but overall the week was a success with 26 carp landed between two anglers. Lovely owners, beautiful autumn settings, few tolls and an East drive. We would most certainly recommendand will likely be back
we had a great time at naufrage! Great facilities, and great carp. We cought 33 carp, 15 above 30 lbs and 4 above 45 lbs. With the biggest one 58 lbs. Only thing was that the warm water in the shower next at the swim was cold within 2 minutes. And the little cabin could use curtains. Overal it was a great trip!
We’ve just returned from a weeks fishing at this venue and can’t recommend this place enough. The venue is absolutely stunning and the family that run this complex are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble! I even had to ask the owners son if he could go out in the boat boat (twice) when I unfortunately got snagged up with a fish on the end. Me and my daughter stayed in the ‘tiny house’ on the noufarage lake and I literally had half the lake to myself! The pavilion was great and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We also had a proper toilet, shower and the beds were very comfortable. If you’re thinking of fishing in France then please give this place a go, you honestly won’t regret it, and there is also a fully stocked tackle shop with all the equipment you would ever need. I also purchased my bait through them and everything was ready for me on arrival. This place is nothing short of 5 stars and i would defiantly go again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The facilities were brilliant couldn’t have asked for more, The lake is beautiful, The Bailiff was always there if we needed, Six of us fished the lake and we all had at least one Fish each With the biggest being 52lb, also a 41lb, 39lb But The fishing was very slow, I personally had one run all week which resulted in fish, Not sure on the fish stocks but did seem to be a little light. The crayfish were a nightmare around the margins, also a lot of snags and for these two reasons I wouldn’t go back

The venue was being renovated when we visited and it will be good to see the former mill looking as it once did if not better. Fishing was not easy but I had seven runs and a couple of fish with others lost to snags which are gradually being removed. All the staff were very friendly, the facilities and food provided was good too. Their shop stocked most things you could need. Other items such as boats and motors were available. I’m looking forward to a return visit before long.
Wow. The lake was stunning, really good water quality proven by the diverse amount of wildlife around the lake aswell as in it, we saw baby pike, shoals of perch, and lots of frogs, mayflies and other insect life.
The fishing was difficult but worth it on my behalf with a 44lb 13oz beauty. You don’t need tons of bait, there are lots of clear spots on this lake that at any other time of year I imagine would be very successful. We had our suspicions that the carp may have been getting ready to spawn.
I was very impressed with the facilities, some final touches are needed but the guys made it clear of their intentions and the potential seems amazing.
The staff went above and beyond during every hour of our stay, if you need it they will make it happen they even tried to help some of our group catch a fish with the great advice.
You cannot fault this place, hosts are great and cannot do enough for you, food package is biblical, bait and tackle is all reasonably priced in the on-site shop so no need to lump a ton of bait over from the UK.. fishing was hard but that’s fishing.. overall it was a great week in good company at a beautiful complex.. already booked for next year
An absolutely beautiful complex, that the Ablacus team have clearly put a huge amount of money and effort into creating, and it’s easy to see it’s only going to get better as they continue with their work and new trees and plants start to mature.
The team are extremely welcoming and hospitable. Bertrand and Theo are always willing to help make the stay as comfortable as possible, and David the bailiff is on hand with advice on how to fish the lake. I simply cannot fault the dedication of the team to ensuring we had a great stay.
Some of us took the food package, and we never went hungry – in fact a couple of times we had to cancel lunch as we had so much left from the day before.
The descriptions of the accommodation on the Majestic Carp site really don’t do it justice unfortunately. The larger cabin has a flushing toilet and shower, and a large open kitchen/dining space (fully equipped) which can easily take a couple of bed chairs. There’s also a shepherds hut there with bunk beds and room for at least one more bed chair. There is plenty of room for bivvys as well.
The smaller cabin has a double bed and a single bed in the bedroom (which had all the bedding), and a separate well equipped kitchen and a dry toilet about 10M away in another hut.
The one-person cabin was the only one that was a little disappointing – it’s essentially just a metal box (maybe the back of an old army vehicle) with power in it. It’s a 90 second walk from the smaller cabin though, so bring a bivvy, and expect to make that walk regularly. It is where we got the most bites however!
Unfortunately I can’t say much about the fishing – as a previous reviewer noted, the fish were clearly there, but seemed quite shy, likely because of the weather changes this year and we believe they were starting to get ready to spawn. Between our group there was a mid 20 and mid 40 carp, a 12lb sturgeon, a pike, and a bream though.
All told, we had a fantastic week, even though the fishing was hard, and would certainly consider returning.
We enjoyed our stay here very much. We were received with great hospitality. The comfort and facilities were very good.
Unfortunately I can’t say anything about the carp stock and the Majestic carp as we only caught one fish. This is probably because the fish were still lethargic after the winter, still shy because they were stocked last winter and because of the low temperatures and heavy rain we had. As far as the location is concerned, it really comes highly recommended! We’ve already booked several fishing holidays for the next two years, but if not we’d come back next year. So in a couple of years we’ll definitely be back here and hopefully catch more fish.

The lake has only been open 2 years and has a good head of fish, we had 7 of us fishing 20 fish out between us for 13lb to 71lb.
