I spent a week at Albacus Pavillon and came away with six fish, losing roughly the same number again, mainly due to the snags. The weather was against us too with summer temperatures between 25 and 32 and only a 10 minute light shower. With the water levels around a metre down during our visit, it certainly was not a runs water and the fishing required plenty of patience and watercraft. Theo explained it had been fishing hard this season but if that’s the case why continue to feed them with the mechanical automated feeders. I asked him to switch them off which he did. The local bait produced nothing for me apart from a fluro yellow pop up. Bait works pop ups, Kent garlic and squid and tigers produced the bulk of the runs I had. Even with a 45lb fluro leader I still got cut through.
The fish we did manage to land fought incredibly hard, which made each one well worth the effort. The open water around the aerators produced one fish, but for me the most productive areas were the far margins opposite and left and right from the accommodation. You really need a sonar to check the routes for underwater snags. This was also where the fish were showing regularly, so keeping an eye on the margins and fishing to signs of activity definitely paid off. Runs came at night and mornings with a single day fish. Be prepared for the bats that hit fluro lines at night with regularity. You must fish locked up and cannot let them run.
The far right end of the lake was in my view not fishable. Theo informed me he has divers booked to deal with the snags. Some TLC and snag removal can restore this lake to the reputation it once had. I would currently rate it a a 7/10 in terms of difficulty. There were crayfish and one came to pay a visit but only noticed one of my baits getting a nibble over the week.
The accommodation itself was good and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay, although it would benefit from a proper deep clean between visits. I left it in a better state than when we arrived. The lack of refuse bins was also a bit of a pain and something that could easily be improved.
Overall, Albacus Pavillon was a challenging week rather than a numbers fishing holiday. Many lakes have shut due to water levels this year so can’t complain too much. Other lakes at the complex suffered similarly however one produced over 80 fish in the week up to 47lb carp a 52lb grass. I will keep that info to myself. The weather, low water, snags and wary fish made it hard work, but the quality and fighting ability of the fish made the effort worthwhile.
Had a great time although the weather was brutally hot the week we were there. I had 3 fish up to 29lb and Paul had 10 up to 40lb. Had an almighty storm one night.
Theo and his wife were very kind and even arranged for us to watch the England games in their bar.
Just returned from a week at Pavillion. The timing probably wasn’t the best as we arrived and the the owner told us that the fish had been spawning all last week. I did email majestic asking this question to which I was told they were not spawning… either way that couldn’t have been avoided.
The fishing was very tricky, the weather went from one extreme to the other all week.
We managed 11 fish in total and a small handful of those were mid 30’s.
As you stand Infront of the lake with your back to the cabin the best side of the lake was off to the right, this produced most of the fish and all of the bigger ones.
The lake is very very snaggy, we lost 6 fish to snags. I was reeling in big branches or getting hooked up on solid underwater snags.
The bait boat sonar was showing up 2 very large snags dead centre of the lake too.
Several fish had died whilst we were there and floated around the margins, maybe this was due to spawning?
Theo the owner was very helpful and pleasant. The complex is very nice and although most of it wasn’t open like the restaurant (maybe this opens during more peak season?) we were not told prior to going that these would not be open.
The cabin was great, very comfortable. The grounds were very nice.
The larger lake on the complex looks awesome and they had a much better week than all other lakes , maybe due to not spawning just yet?
I would visit again but not to Pavillion, I question that there is 150-200 carp in the lake, and certain areas of the lake is not accessible due to snags (you can see big branches and buckets etc in the shallows). If we returned it would be on the larger 11acre lake and much later in the year.
Got back last weekend from Pavilion 4th-11th October. Had a great time with 19 carp between 3 of us. No monsters largest 34lb. Half a dozen lost to the snags.
Excellent accommodation and Theo and family on hand if required.
Already booked to go back next year on Naufarage so speaks volumes.
Great tackle shop and bar and plenty of improvements on the go too.
Roll on the next trip.
We stayed at Pavillon 30th August to 6th September. The weather wasn’t the best but it didn’t stop us having a great time. Thanks to all the guys there, we will be back to enjoy more fishing and hopefully better weather.
We are beginners & Ollie caught his biggest ever fish, 2 30lb carp
The accommodation, lakes & surrounding area is lovely
The tackle shop is very well stocked, and Theo and his family were amazing hosts who were always happy to help us fish and with anything we needed and to teach us ways to fish.
Great peaceful location. Plenty of fish caught over the week and we were not disturbed once by anyone. Surrounded by stunning forest and nature, we saw deer, woodpeckers, kingfishers, heron and more. Could not have wished for a more perfect location for our family. Thank you 😍
Just returned from my 2nd visit to the Ablacus estate, this time on the Pavilion lake. (Previously, Moulin lake)
This venue continues to develop & improve & it was good to meet up with Bertrand & Theo again. Work on the estate continues, at pace.
Our visit to Pavilion was a birthday present, to me, with family joining to celebrate and to fit some fishing in.
It must be said that I didn’t anticipate the wall to wall sunshine & 33°C temperature’s.
As you’d expect, the carp just weren’t interested in feeding, at least not during the day, instead I put lines out during late evenings & early mornings and was rewarded with several carp to 30lbs.
Our days were, instead, spent walking the expansive estate, BBQ’s and spending some quality family time in a mature, established countryside.
My granddaughters spent time fishing in the trout pond and also for perch in the Pavilion lake.
Thanks to Theo & Bertrand for making us feel very welcome & to Majestic Carp for a faultless booking process.
I intend to return in April / May 2026, this time on Naufrage, hopefully in cooler weather, to get about some of the larger of the lakes residents.
We had a lovely week. Theo and his dad were very welcoming and helpful throughout the week. The cabin was perfect, everything you’d need for the week, the lake and grounds are immaculate. Onsite tackle shop is very good and very well priced. Ten fish up to 40lb, lost a few in snags but overall very happy with our time at pavilion. Would highly recommend this for families.
just returned from a week on the Pavillion, what an outstanding week.
With the weather against us from the first day. mid 20’s all week and the fish in pre-spawning mentality the fishing was quite tough, however we still managed over 20 fish between the 4 of us including 6 over 30 upto 36lb. Some stunning fish out and multiple bigger fish seen cruising in the upper layers.
Theo and his family couldn’t have been more helpful and inviting. Great couple of socials in the club house.
The accommodation is outstanding and extremely comfortable.
Thanks to the team and look forward to seeing you next year.
Booked through majestic carp at ablacus pavilion. What a beautiful complex with multiple waters on it. Everything is kept spick and span and the cottages are clean. Nothing will be lacking for you. Due to weather conditions could not get everything out. Yet in 4 days 18 runs and 15 fish managed to catch. Highly recommended to have action. This is also good for family vacation. The largest was a grass carp of 30 pounds followed by a mirror of 22 pounds. They are definitely bigger there. You are kindly helped by David and Theo these gave us a tour of the 5 waters at the beginning. We will definitely come back on another water. Here you will not lack anything. In addition, the tackle shop is well stocked.
The Ablacus team have big plans for this place. They are certainly doing a great job so far. From the moment we arrived until we had to say goodbye, we were made to feel very welcome and experienced a quite exceptional week’s fishing. Bertrand, Theo and Davide were generous, friendly and helpful throughout our stay providing us with tips, bait, tackle and beer.
We have been to France a good few times before and the Ablacus experience was definitely one of our favourites.
Attention to detail is everywhere across the well manicured estate.
The Accommodation on the lakeside is superb. Bivvy or bedroom? It’s up to you. Hot shower, clean toilet, kitchen area – even heaters where we dried our gear during a very wet week indeed.
The fishing was amazing. We had at least 80 runs between the 3 of us.
61 carp to the net. Fishing 2 rods each. Nearly all bites in daylight hours, which was a bonus.
12 x 20s
13 x 30s
3 x 40s to 43lb 12oz
Tremendous session.
what a brilliant complex Ablacus is! We had private hire of both Moulin and Pavilon lakes. Pavilon was definitely the easier the two lakes but produced a multitude of really nice Carp over the week from mid teens up to 28lb. The lodge on the lake was fantastic in terms of both accommodation proximity to the lake and grateful social meet up for the nine of us as well.
Moulin at 11 acres was a bit trickier, and in mid May there was quite a lot of weed present (it’s virtually all gone by mid June apparently), so finding clear spots was essential. However, the team of bailiffs at Ablacus one more than happy to show us the correct spots, they were also happy to come down to the swims occasionally and use their bait boats, sonar, GPS and cameras to put us right on the money. The week resulted in multiple pristine captures if carp from of 18lb to 48lb, Sturgeon to 20lb, tench to 6lb and a solitary bream. There are a few crayfish in Moulin but they weren’t a problem at all.
We only fished int the bottom, but the owners would have been happy for us to zig and surface fish as well.
The accommodation on Moulin, whilst more basic and smaller than the lodge on Pavilon functional enough, right next to the swims with two bunkbeds and enough space to store all your gear. There was also a compost toilet within 10m And there were plenty of landing nets, mats, slings, and scales in the tackle store room.
Most importantly, Bertron, David and the team Ablacus are absolutely fantastic. We went to the on site bar on several evenings and were welcomed like old friends.
The local towns are absolutely beautiful if you have non-Fishing guests with you, and it’s pretty easy to get the train into Paris for the day if you fancy. Several local supermarkets just five minutes away in the car fishing tackle shop on site is pretty good with all the essential bits.
Overall Ablacus is a fantastic location, for great quality fish, socialising with friends and enjoying the incredible local hospitality.
The three of us just got back from Ablacus Pavillon.
Wow what a place. The whole complex is amazing.
The owners and all the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
The week started off so well with carp being caught regularly. The largest we had was 41.3 lbs.
5x 30s including a 37.8 and 36.8 and many high twenty’s.
Chip finders supplied to keep a record of all catches was a great idea to monitor their weight
The lake and cabin were amazing. Everything you need is there. I would certainly recommend and certainly be returning
