Thanks for the warm welcome. We had a total of 17 runs and managed to catch 12 beautiful carp. Hopefully until next time. Greetings, Frenky, Mientje, Thomas, and Roos

We had another great trip at La Bergerie, we had 19 carp to 37lb, with average being just under 27lb. Most the fish came from the far tree line on fishmeal baits, and we used netural balanced baits due to the leafs on the lake bed. The tackle used was 20lb mono, 35lb hooklinks and size 4 hooks.
The Lake owners Virginia and Fred are so welcoming and
helpful, and we have booked again for next year

We had a great week at La Beregie. Unfortunately, the catch wasn’t great due to air pressure, but we still managed to land three. The owners are super friendly. They stop by every day for a chat and tips. We’ll definitely be back.

we had a nice week at la beregie. unfortunately the catch was not what we had hoped for. with 2 fishermen 9 carp and 2 bream. from tuesday almost nothing more caught. luckily we had reasonable to super nice weather at the end. order boilies from them. explore the water and try to spot bare spots. a boat is definitely handy. recommended take something with you against mosquitoes because they will bite you. owner comes to have a look every day and he knows the spot. negative points are: family lodge is suitable for 2 fishermen but in terms of space for your rods and landing a fish it becomes quite tight especially if you also want to use the boat. if it has rained a lot you have to be careful not to slip into the water. the cottage is fine and I plan to go back again because the location is nice shops nearby 5 minutes by car and you also have a washing machine at a supermarket nearby.

La Bergerie 12th – 19th April 2025. We fish Post 3 and used the hut as a base and set up our bivvy in the swim.
My wife and I caught from the near and far margins next to the snags and also on gravel spots in open water. The fish in La Bergerie really fight and are in mint condition. We used coated braid 250mm long hook lengths with size 4 continental barbless hooks, with running leads with plastic C clips. The bait we used was homemade yeast based boille and sweetcorn. We caught 20 + fish to 38lb 9oz, average weight around 27lb. We have had a good time at La Bergerie. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. We have already booked a return trip next spring.

Just back from a 7 day session fishing from the Hutte. Between the 2 of us fishing we landed 14 carp and lost 8. Sizes from 9lb to 36lb. The quality of the fish was exceptional with very clean mouths, looking like they have rarely been caught.
The owners were very friendly and helpful with Virginia speaking some English.
We found the cabin really useful, although basic it had the main things we needed, fridge, electricity, 2 burner gas stove, cutlery, pots, kettle, a table, 2 chairs and a heater (we did not use). It is situated around 6m from the rods.
The lake was very attractive and quiet (occasional small noise from nearby road).
NEGATIVE points: Apart from the 5 swims available the total bank side has overhanging trees to around 6m distance into the lake. This would normally be a real feature, but it made the whole bank line a feature, which voided the ‘feature’ part. Then the problem is that there has been no fishery management around these trees and we found the bottom littered with old logs and branches. We lost countless rigs early in the session and were forced to fish in open water. The lake is nearly all 9ft to 12ft deep (large lake) with barely any features. We caught most carp off the outside edge of the tree lines which were in 8-9ft of water. We had to be on the rods immediately or they ran straight under the tree and snagged. This is not my favourite way of fishing.
We can only judge the fish stock on our short window, but felt the quantity of fish was too low and could benefit with new additional stocking.
This venue has the potential to be my favourite. However, until the snag situation is sorted I am unlikely to return. I appreciate that is will be a massive job to pull all the overhanging trees and snags out, but this will be so much safer for the carp, especially as there are ‘less’ experienced anglers who might use dangerous rigs that may come.
So, if you enjoy open water fishing as opposed to margins this could be great for you.

We just wanted to say that we had a magical time at la Bergerie. The owners are really friendly and visited us everyday to check if everything was ok. We are definitely coming back. Thanks!

Just got back from Bergerie on 2nd of jan the weather was very mild. As for the lake it was wild looking which I like very much. The swims are well spaced out but think you would struggle getting 6 rods out of each one but we fished the family cabin swim which was fine. I caught 2 fish from the centre of the lake which were in pristine condition. The smaller mirror was an absolute cracker. Would defo go back which we are planning.

The owners were really friendly and helpful with advice on bait and locations to fish.
It is a natural lake and natural baits are much better suited.
We only caught at night and this seemed a common pattern with other anglers.

2 of us fished from 16th – 23rd September and booked the family cabin.
The venue is “very carpy” having been only open for fishing for the last 6 months and previously used as a hunting lake for the last 60 years as such there are huge amount of fallen and sunken trees around the edges and a good few out of bounds areas. The lake fish are all original with the no known stocking in recent memory.
The cabin is a good base but a little basic but has everything you need, but personally I would book one of the smaller cabins as they are all next to lake so you can fish direct from the others not possible from the family cabin. The banks / swims of the lake are left unfinished with the family cabin swim very steep and high up not ideal for my fishing partner who is in his late 70’s. Luckily an adjacent swim was not booked allowing us to move into that swim.
We were fishing the main body of the lake, we only fished 5 days with only myself fishing nights I had 7 carp and 3 bream all bites between 11pm and 6am I saw no fish caught during the daylight hours anywhere on the lake and the owner confirmed bites are all at night. The most productive areas were the far margin and around the yellow marker in the middle of lake. Large snowman rigs and yellow spinner rigs being used however fish to near the margins you will get bothered by the crayfish.
Overall the lake offers good value for money given the accommodation is inclusive it could however benefit from an additional toilet & shower block.

We fished La Bergerie (post 3) in the smaller body of water close to the channel that runs to the main body of water, beautiful setting, very quiet, owners are lovely, cabin was spot on. To help anyone thinking of going here I will put down what we learnt from the trip so it will hopefully help before you go, this is only what we found worked better.
Take bigger baits, 20mm – 26mm boilies (we caught our fish on 24mm topped with a tiger nut) I know others caught on snowmen 18mm and 20mm (in the main body of water)
Snag fishing would be more productive (at post 3) so be prepared and there are some Kray fish (more in the smaller part) so bigger baits and Kray fish protection will help.
    Would definitely go back.
