Having just returned from a week on deer park felt obliged to leave review.
3 of us fished the lake with two in swim1 and a guy over in swim3, have to say the facilities as mentioned by various other reviews are adequate, swim1 having a sleeping cabin and a kitchen cabin is very home from home, likewise swim3 the same albeit a more compact cabin and just the one, so cannot fault tbh, and the shower in swim3 I’m told was hot, the facilities for swim1 meant that toiletries and shower facilities was just a walk up the path where the flushing toilet and the container housing the shower was situated.
The fishing was for all of very hard going, and the fish were along the far margin (swim1) and to the dead tree in swim3.
We got off to a flyer with two catching on first night sadly for the guy in swim3 he then had to wait 5-6days for his next fish, in the meantime being pulled or snagged was becoming the norm.
In swim1 the fish ranged from 10lb8oz to 45lb 8oz.
We managed 12fish in total although the stories of “the one that got away” would have added to tally had we not lost them!!!
A big shout out to Thibault, again, as everyone has mentioned before he is a great and really helpful guy and only a text or phone call away, he even midweek jumped in the boat and lent a hand to baiting the swim for the guy in swim3, did not hesitate, thank you for that.
Surroundings idyllic and wildlife wherever you looked be it deer, cattle, donkey’s often making an appearance near your swim along with the birdlife its itself is very relaxing.
Enjoyed the trip and a big thank you to Thibault
Well we just back from a good week fishing in Deer park lake . Thibault is a top host ,very helpful and message or call away to help you. Lake is nice and plenty wildlife around. Cabin and kitchen on swim 1 definitely give you more comfort, same as swim 3 . Facilities good and clean. Is just someone mention above be handy have fridge and freezer at the cabins or somewhere closer, but overall all good. We managed 23 fish between us 2 and probably close to dozen fish lost to hooks pull of or at the snags.
2×50s up to 52.6lb , 2×40 up to 49lb, 11×30 up to 39lb ,some 20s up to 29 and couple doubles
Amazing stay and what a place! Beautiful surroundings and a beautiful lake.
Facilities were great and we managed fine with 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children. I think the only downside was the fridge freezer which was located a few minutes walk away and the electric due to a storm was running from a battery and couldn’t cope with everything all at once 🤣 but we managed absolutely fine.
Theabult was great and always a message or phone call away for help or more bait 🤣
All 5 anglers got their PBs as well ranging from 30 – 44lbs! A total of 17 carp out for the weeks stay.
Just completed a very good week at Deer Park. Very helpful owner and lovely unspoilt lake with great fish in really good condition. Highly recommended.
what a brilliant week at deerpark 52 runs 45 landed whilst the facilities have improved massively some little additions are still needed in my opinion ie fridge in kitchen on peg 1 and the floating cabin this would finish everything you require just a few photos from an amazing week
Thanks for the great feedback, Jackson. We’re delighted you had such a successful week at Deer Park. Regarding your suggestion, a fridge for Peg 1 is already planned and will be installed soon, which should make the facilities even more complete for future guests. We hope to see you back on the bank again soon!
I wanted to say in a few words that our stay at Deer park lakes was truly magical and the most enjoyable experience at any carp venue I’ve been too by a country mile! I would highly recommend this place which is truly magical in every way! Hospitality was exceptional and is run by a gentleman named Thaubut what a guy! Service and stay was the best I’ve ever had. Myself and my mate had 15 fish between us all ranging from 56lb,40lb+,30lb+,20lb. We will be back in 2027!! Tight lines
This was our first time fishing in France and what an experience it was. An absolutely stunning venue with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. 27 carp were caught in 7 days between 4 anglers (all anglers caught their PBs). Carp ranging from 47lbs with a good few 30s and a few mid to high 20s. Thibault the owner was extremely kind and helpful with everything down to how the best way to fish the lake as well as helping us with everything else we asked. He is a very passionate angler and has great knowledge of the lake. His advice was perfect and gave us the insight on what this amazing lake had to offer. The bait that was provided was amazing and really got them fish feeding. Overall a Great Lake for anyone wanting to fish in France and produces some immaculate fish.
My 4th visit to this venue. And never disappointed by the beautiful wild surroundings. 3 of us fished with 2 personal bests. And plenty of hard fighting fish found there way into our nets.
Upon our arrival we were greeted by Thibault who was very welcoming who gave us lots of helpful advice. It is easy to see that he has put his heart into making this such a good venue. New toilet and shower since our last visit.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is an easy venue, but if you put some thought into your fishing you will be rewarded by beautiful fish. We had 20 fish during the week even though the temperatures were very high,
Thank you Thibault and Camille for making our stay so good. See you in 2026

We had a brilliant week on deer park lake. What a place. The lake itself surrounded by wildlife. Fish stock was superb. We had 20 fish between 3 anglers the biggest being 2 carp, both at 56.8. We also had 40’s, 30’s and a few 20’s. Thibault the owner is great. Extremely helpful with tips etc and is also always available if needed. Facilities were also very good. Big chest freezer just up the hill from the lake for our bait and a hot shower in the cabin and also a new shower block with flushing toilet. Will definitely be going back.
Hi just wanted to leave my review from deer park lake week commencing 5th oct. Was a first time there and was a lovely lake well explained on website to actual lake and facility’s. Thibault was extremely kind and helpful and would like to thank him for his services. Fishing was good landing 19 fish and lost 4. Great wildlife
My son and I arrived at Deer Park Lake on Saturday 10th May, to news that all Carp Anglers dread, “the Carp are Spawning”. However, the air pressure dropped, and the weather changed dramatically over the next 24-48hrs and the spawning was over, and the fish began to feed again, resulting in a pretty good week.
We managed 10 fish between us and lost 10 more. We caught 2 small doubles, 2 in the 20’s, 4 30’s, one at 44lbs and the best of the week being a stunning mirror at 55lb 12oz.
The facilities are basic but work perfectly and we ate well and stayed clean for the week. The cabin kept us sheltered the surroundings are beautiful.
The owner, Thibault, is a superstar. He can’t do enough for you and tries his best to put you on the fish and take care of you. Listen to his advice and try his tactics, he knows the water well, having grown up there from being a small boy.
We will be back.
A perfect lake with a few proviso’s! If the lake had its full quota of anglers then it would be overcrowded, too many lines in the water. For most of the week we had the lake to ourselves. We originally booked swim 1, this would have a been disaster, fortunately the very helpful Thibault allowed us to switch to the unoccupied swim 2. We caught well I had my first 50 which was nice! We had nine fish each, and excluding two small ones, we averaged the remaining sixteen at 40lb. We both had 50’s. All of our fish came out at night, very little showing in the daytime.
If considering this lake, I would recommend booking exclusive with a maximum of four anglers. Thibault is a perfect host.
Just unbelievable Thibault welcomed us into a haven of nature and a lake to die for. With his knowledge and dedication to his wonderful lake and carp we had an amazing father and son fishing adventure. Surrounded by silence of nature we fished for 6 nights and both caught fish over 30lb. The weather wasn’t the kindest but the carp didn’t disappoint. Can not wait for an opportunity to return to try and catch even more of these beautiful carp. Thank you once again from both of us Thibault for all you did for us.
Had a great Week on Deer Park Lake WC 21st October. Yes the facilities are basic but the surrounding park and wildlife made this a trip to remember. This was more of a family fishing trip but my son fished hard and my parents only fished during the day. Saying that we had 34 carp including 5 forties. Everybody targets the snag lined margins but don’t neglect open water. Quickly realized they feed more freely if you found spots in open water and we had multiple takes at the same time most nights!
Yes facilities are basic and could really do with mains electric in the cabin as solar power doesn’t last long in October but the friendliness of Thiboult and the location within the park is fantastic. I would come back here just to visit and the fishing is a bonus.
Just returned from a 5 day trip to Deer Park Lake. (Had to leave early for work!). As others have said, Thiboult and Camille are very friendly and cannot do enough for you and the location and surrounding estate and grounds are simply stunning.
The fishing was tricky, 28deg and very high pressure not your average October weather certainly didn’t help. Again as others have said, fish hold up in the far margin close to snags at 140-185 yards, so either a bait boat, or use of the boat is essential to get accurate. I chose to use a bait boat to keep things as quiet as possible as the water is fairly shallow at around 3-6 feet near the snags, and fished around 5 metres from the snags to give me a chance to land fish. There are a lot of silver fish, and if I was to return, I’d predominately use just boilies with no particle. There are also a few small Coypu’s around and they were certainly diving on the particle. When I did work out that mainly boilie was the route to go, (took me until Tuesday), I managed 5 fish to 35lbs, with the smallest 27lbs and lost 1. All fish were in lovely condition with lovely markings. Wafters and balanced tigers seemed to work the best on heli setups, so nice and simple.
The facilities are pretty basic, although in the chalet you have a 4 burner hob, sofa bed and solar powered shower, which worked fine. The toilet is a dry one behind the chalet. As others have said, the fridge and freezer are over a mile away, so you need to use your car, and leave your swim. For me, there needs to be refrigeration in the chalet, and Thiboult is doing that this winter. There’s room in the chalet for bedchairs.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my few days there, it was very peaceful, and if wildlife is a part of your carp fishing, then you will also thoroughly enjoy it. Having red squirrels, red deer and kingfishers all together was pretty amazing!
Me and my best friend had a great time at deer park lake, amazing place with amazing owners, thibualt is great and always happy to help. Gorgeous lakes and surroundings, will definitely be returning!
Had a great time at Dear Park lake,
The weather was really hot with high pressure, so fishing was a little slow, but I managed to land 7 fish in total to 44lb 12 Absolutely lovely place though, like the land time forgot.
I would recommend taking a cooler box as the fridge is quite a way away and also, its worth spooling up with flouro mainline (braid is not permitted) as much of the fishing is at range and the stretch in the mono was enough for the fish to get in the snags and off the hook
Just back from a great week in France with Neil Wood
I managed fish to 35.12 all fishing tight to snags during the day as i couldn’t buy a bite in open water. 4 lost fish for me and one on the very last night which was gutting.
Every fish fell to the ever faithful IQD rig using the Rig-It Tackle fluorocarbon and R4 wide gape hooks and the micro ring swivels and anti tangle sleeves fished with a yellow Berry wafter.
The loose feed was Chinese river shrimp boilies, stick mix and liquid food from boost baits Julian Grattidge
Overall a fantastic week at deer park from Majestic Carp
Roll on the next session 😁
Myself and Ann really enjoyed our stay at deerpark. Very quiet and peaceful. The owners are lovely people and really friendly and helpful.
We caught 15 carp up to 44pounds and lost 5 more, also a pike of around 10 pounds. The fishing is quite hard but rewarding.
Many thanks again
A truly stunning venue with some of the hardest fighting carp I’ve come across. The stock is absolutely immaculate with some real gems. The owner and his wife where the most amazing hosts and the accommodation was fantastic and cleaned to a high standard. This is a venue i will definitely be returning to.
Wonderful fishing for beautiful hard fighting fish, the hosts Thibault and Camille were very welcoming and helpful, they took the time to walk around the lake with me and point out all the features and best places. The location is perfect so peaceful surrounded by lots of wildlife with only the sounds of nature. The perfect tranquil location with perfect hosts and big fish. looking forward to next.
I’ve seen a lot of fishing spots in 20 years but this one is really exceptional. Even if I have to drive a lot to go there, I would definitely go back! On the one hand to fish in the two other lakes and on the other hand to be able to exchange again with Thibault this passionate and the radiant Camille.
The owners are passionate, attentive and caring. An idyllic setting, well maintained, natural but well thought out.
A wonderful moment at the water’s edge
If you want to fish in a magical place surrounded by deer, fallow deer, zebus…. the Park is the place to be. And the kindness and the smile of Camille and Thibault, your hosts, are matched only by their desire to satisfy you. Let’s go!!!!
beautiful soothing venue, lakes that preserve wildlife, combative fish.
a beautiful place to spend a session full of calm and memories.
I highly recommend!
