Just returned from Harris lake. 5 anglers 30 fish with 3 over 50lb to 56lb!.
    .
We were blown away with this lake so beautiful and quiet with excellent on site facilities .

We found fishing to island or marginal reeds most productive but did catch also from open water

Paul the bailiff looked after us he popped up twice during the week but was contactable if necessary also had a lovely chat to lake owner Lakdar , a very clever and interesting chap .

Practical tips would be to be sure you take stage stands, a mallet for pegs as the ground if very hard and also to ensure you have suitable unhooking mats in the interest of fish care.

We had a great week and would certainly re book highly recommended

    Fishing Trip 08-15 August 2026.

Seven anglers fished Harris Lake. We caught a total of 79 fish, which were 27 Commons, 26 Mirrors, 25 Grass carp, and 1 koi. Largest fish was a mirror at 46lb, smallest was 9lb which was also a mirror. 7 40’s were caught.

All fish were in excellant condition and fought well.

Fish came from nearly all pegs except 1 which didn’t produce any at all. Best bait was the Supreme Red alongside pellet.

The facilities were adequate, although the fridge and freezer need replacing as they have seen better days. Shower was hot enough for us to use, and the electricity was fine to charge our equipment.

Booking through Majestic was easy, no dramas at all.

Plenty of wildlife, so make sure you have a capsule / inner to your bivvy if you don’t want to share with snakes.

Overall a good week, even with temperatures that were very hot.

We visited Harris Lake as a group of four anglers and overall had an enjoyable week, despite conditions that made the fishing slower than expected. Across the week we landed 24 fish, with the majority being grass carp up to 37lb. The biggest common of the trip was 38lb, and the largest mirror was 36lb. Mirror and common carp didn’t seem to be feeding consistently, and most of our action came from very close to the main island, with only a couple of fish caught elsewhere. All fish we landed were in good condition.

The lake was noticeably low, with water levels down to around 2–3 feet across most areas and deeper pockets of 6–8 feet. With no rain for around a month, the lake looked like it would benefit from some fresh water. A few fish took a little time to swim off, which may have been linked to the conditions. In terms of space, the lake comfortably accommodates six anglers, and could stretch to eight if needed.

Facilities are basic but adequate for a week’s stay. Hot water wasn’t consistently available at first but was quickly rectified. The shower located in the kitchen area is a little unusual, but functional. Electricity from the solar setup was sufficient for all our charging needs. We were largely left to enjoy the week independently, with only two visits during our stay, and the advice we received was helpful. Being able to drive to all pegs to drop off kit was a big plus.

The lake appears well looked after overall. Some boards have chicken wire on them, which can catch nets and is uncomfortable to kneel on, so this is something worth addressing. Wildlife around the lake is abundant — kites, buzzards, snakes, deer, foxes, and signs of boar — which adds to the experience. There are rats in the evenings, so securing bait is essential.

Travel to the venue is straightforward. The drive from the tunnel is mostly motorway, with tolls costing around €40 each way. There are good supermarkets and petrol stations within 20 minutes of the lake, making supplies easy to manage.

Booking through Majestic Carp was easy and straightforward, with clear communication and no issues throughout the process.

Harris Lake is a venue with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the conditions during our week weren’t ideal, but we still enjoyed the setting, the wildlife, and the overall experience.

We were so looking forward to our week here (4 anglers) having fished a particular difficult lake for many years. We were not expecting a runs water but a water that was relatively simple to tackle and possibly get a bend in the rod. Upon arriving at the lake after the requested arrival time we met Lakdar the lake owner. He is a nice chap and we had a brief chat with him. He told us that the last anglers left and didn’t get his deposit back as they had left a mess. Whilst we appreciate that this is not his fault he still left all the mess in the pegs which we had to clean up. I spent an initial half an hour clearing my peg of wooden made table, full large box of rubbish, loads of broken glass shards not to mention a lot of cigarette joint butts and papers! This really was unacceptable but we had to clear it. They also had quite obviously thrown a lot of bait into the lake by the pegs as the ducks were diving for it. So rather than waxing on too much basically the fishing was poor, not in respect of catches as I had 15 fish in the week (which is good) but 12 were grass carp which are very aggressive in and around the net. I unhooked a lot of these in the net but proceeded to get my net ripped by one. I stopped fishing on the Thursday as I had had enough of these. On top of this the facilities lack attention to detail, the shower is not fit for purpose with zero heat and just a trickle, the toilet didn’t flush away properly and for some reason we noticed the owners son putting bleach in the water which we were not drinking anyway. We appreciate French venues do not always fish prolifically and we had challenging heat but the imbalance of Grass carp should be mentioned in your write up of this venue. I would certainly not recommend Harris and its also left me with a negative feeling about Majestic in that are all your lake descriptions hiding relevant information and we questioned why there had not been a review since May. Just for information the lake is not 12 acres it is close to 10 (not that that bothered us 4 anglers)

We just returned from a great week at Harris lake. The weather was extremely challenging, cold northerly winds all week, freezing nights and the days barely saw double digit temperatures.

However the lake still produced over 30 fish. The average was really impressive with 9 of these fish over 40lb and the biggest being 56lb the average was close to 35lb. The lodge was a great addition we were able to cook nightly and it has a fridge and freezer for food/bait, we had one issue with power but an engineer was on site really fast and this was resolved. One of the great things about the lake is you are really away from everything, and we were left in peace to enjoy the lake and its surroundings. The nearest decent supermarket was about 20min away.

Tips would be to use the lake pellets and fish the margins or islands reasonably tight. The fish were all gathered up in the deeper water on our trip with most being caught by the outlet or long down the same margin.

    We would definitely return.

      Hi mate
Saw your review for Harris lake, looks like you smashed it. The house pellets you used, how big are they, were they just for loose feed or big enough for for hook bait
      Thanks

Had a great week at Harris, 7 lads fished with over 60 fish caught biggest being 57.6 lb and the smallest at 13lb. The quality of the fish are stunning the owner lakdar really knows his stuff and I would recommend having a chat with him when you arrive. One bit of advice I would give to the next group of anglers is buy the house pellets and dont go buying silly amounts of boilies these fish are brought up on this pellet

What an amazing venue. It really is a hidden gem, in terms of its isolated location away from anywhere. 3 anglers experienced a great week starting on Saturday the 14th of June. Catching 35 fish between us. The heaviest being 44 pound. We had the pleasure of seeing some incredible wild life also. Lakdar, the owner gave us a visit. What an interesting person. Full of knowledge, enthusiasm and has a real desire to help in anyway he could to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Harris Lake, we will be back. 🎣🎣

Our week is now over and we are back to normality, reflecting on our week I would like to firstly say majestic carp customer service is second to none. This is the second time we have used yourselves and after over 20 years fishing in France your company makes it a breeze.
We now fish with our sons and sometimes difficult to find places to accommodate them and the communication to facilitate this was a great help.
Right our week, the lake was lovely and good facilities everything we needed (maybe a big chest freezer for bait would be my only criticism). The weather was very changeable and at times meant certain pegs would have to work hard to get a run. Saying that I think as a group we did rather well.

    France 2025 team total
    2 x 50’s
    9 x 40’s
    15 x 30’s
    27 x 20’s
    7 x doubles
    Total = 60 😁

Just returned from an amazing week at Harris lake .
The owner Lakdar is as enthusiastic as ever , he doesn’t hassle you, just let’s you enjoy your week.
The lake is spacious, with plenty of water for 4 anglers ,that’s how we fished it .
The hut is well equipped and offers everything you need ,although this is a new addition, and will only improve.
The fishing was amazing, we’ve caught 114 fish in a week. They are getting ready to spawn ,and seem very off and on depending on temperatures.
    Of the 114 there was 36x30s, 7x40s,1×50 and 26 grassies..the remainder mostly being mid 20 commons .
You are in the middle of nowhere, it’s peaceful, rural and lovely

Following the problem of small carp which was reported and which may have inconvenienced anglers during the 2024 season, a netting operation was carried out on 16 November. The results were very good and confirmed the presence of big fish and a good average. Between 150 and 200 small fish were removed. The photos are available in the catch report here :

    Harris Lake
    28th September to 5th October 2024
    3 Anglers
    Catch report
We caught 97 Carp between us, however 59 of these were between 5lb and 8lb
    The remaining 38 Carp were 48lb, 47lb, 6 x 30s, 17 x 20s 13 x doubles.
Actual average weight 13.5lb, if you exclude the tiddlers the average weight was 24lb
The fish are obviously young stock and are in perfect condition, some are real stunners.
The Lake (if you intend going to Harris Lake make sure you read directions at the end of this report)
Harris is a beautiful lake set in very quiet woodland area with very little noise or light pollution. It is a new lake but it is maturing well. The main features are the small islands and the stunning deep clear margins lined with 10ft Norfolk reeds. The depth is fairly consistent around 5ft at the cabin side and a little less at the forest side, a channel meanders through the lake giving a foot or so extra depths in places. (Note the lake was in-flood about 1ft during our visit)
The pegs and banks are a work in progress, the pegs are spacious but very stony (tough ground sheet is required) Each peg has a large platform made from railway sleepers, these are great but extremely slippery in the wet. The track around the lake is a little overgrown and due to heavy rainfall the previous week about 1/3rd of the track was impassable by 2 wheel drive cars.
    Facilities
The bankside cabin is excellent with all the equipment and facilities you would need.
    Summary
Harris is a lake with great potential once the small fish are removed and the fish stock matures to the claimed weights. The pegs and tracks need a bit of improvement to make them comfortable in wet conditions. I’d love to visit Harris again once the issues are sorted.
Directions DO NOT trust your satnav some of the minor roads to the lake closed off.
You MUST approach through the village of Saint-Jean-Les-Buzy on the D603
In the village at the crossroad map ref. 49.168075, 5.72639 head north, you will cross a railway 60 meters from the crossroads. Follow this road to the lake.

Hello Stan, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and for taking the time to share your experience. We fully understand your comments about the presence of small fish. The owner is aware of the problem and has already planned to resolve it in the coming weeks.

Harris is a brand new lake, and as with any new lake, balancing the fish stock can be tricky, especially when there is a massive spawning event, as was the case this year. Initially, the owner, who is also an experienced fish farmer, had planned to net out the small fish from mid-September. Unfortunately, the weather conditions did not allow this operation to be carried out at that time. However, he has already planned to empty the lake in November, followed by netting to remove 80-90% of the small fish. We have every confidence in his ability to manage this problem, as he has already proved successful on other lakes such as Island lake and Noir Fontaine (two lakes on Majestic Carp) where the carp stock is exceptional. We are confident that Harris will be managed in the same way. The average that we indicate on our website is the average recorded by our team during fishing tests last winter when the presence of small carp was less significant. Our team will try to be present at the time of the netting planned in November in order to have a precise view of the situation. Once the small fish problem is solved this winter, Harris Lake has the potential to be a great lake and we’ll be happy to welcome you back.

Concerning the muddy path, normally this isn’t the case, but we’ve been subjected to continuous heavy rain over the last few weeks.
