We Fished 31/08/2026 5/09/2026
4 anglers. 50 fish.
Biggest 49.5 Common.
10, 40lb+ fish every angler landing a 40+.
Only one grass carp at 25lb.
Fish caught all times of the night and day. Lots of bait options worked, including the house bait.
Facilities and swims need some maintenance but very usable.
Great venue. We will be back again.
We fished 🐟 15/08/26 to 22/08/26
We caught 68 carp to 56.8lb
56.8lb 49lb 2/48lb 46lb 44lb 2/41lb 40lb
25/30s to 39lb 23/20s to 29lb and the rest 19 to 7lb all in all a great weeks fishing ,we didn’t fish at night we bought the rods in around 12am and back out around 9am the next morning we could of easily caught more fish so I highly recommend majestic Carps Island lake ,
1 60, 4 50s, 9 40s, 15 30s, and lots more !
Mega fishing 👍
The lodge is all you need the shower is great, the fishing wasn’t easy but got em and fed them and we caught em, the islands are in an unfortunate position. The fish are mostly beautiful and perfect the owner is a pleasant fellow, the fish fight like demons I had a 29 male mirror if I hadn’t landed Id of sworn it was a leviathan. Would I return I’d love to in a couple of years when the fish have grown more, I didn’t want to leave.
All four of us had great fishing and broke personal beats, Zacc stook to his guns in a spot that wasn’t producing and pulled out the sixty to prove he was right sticking to his guns, Paul caught fish day and night, some spots fished better at night, it’s a great place
04/04/26 – 11/04/26
Two are us were angling this week and we caught a total of 10 carp
* 2 under 20lb
*5 upper 20lbs
* 1 @ 37.12lbs
* 2 over 40lbs
and we caught 17 grass carp which was really annoying as we were unaware they were in the lake
We were using RG Baits for the week with some house pellet and Carp Particle UK mixes
The lake itself is lovely and you can only really comfortably fish from two area’s, although the peg outside the lodge could be improved. The large stones outside the lodge and around the lake are really uncomfortable to walk over so you have to be careful.
The fish we caught were very clean but, you mainly have to fish to the opposite bank to be in with a chance of a bite and the only problem with this is the grass carp are there also. The carp did not really give themselves away that much, the weather conditions were nice in the day with the warmest day being about 22 degrees with lows of -2 and frosty. For about 3 of the days we were fishing one end of the lake and then fished outside the lodge in the evenings.
We did not stay in the lodge and set our bivvy up outside on the grass overlooking the swim but there was 2 rooms available, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds, all very basic
The lodge was tidy and the best part was the fire which made a big difference when it was particularly cold. There are places to sit and it is quite a large space. The kitchen is ok and although it had a kettle, toaster and oven to use (which was not the best), the cold water only dribbled out the tap so you had to be careful as the hot water is scorching to use. There is also a very small old fridge you can use along with a chest freezer. The lighting also in the kitchen area was not good at all in the evening.
The shower was unusable as it was either scorching or freezing, there was no in between and by the time the hot water started to run a little cooler the floor was flooded and it was like a steam room in there. There was no mop available to clean up the water when it flooded.
There is also wifi available in the lodge but, it could all do with a bit updating and you have to be aware that the end of the lodge is actually used by the other anglers on the lake next door so you do not have complete privacy.
The area was really quiet and the wildlife on the lake is minimal and causes no problems. Other than the grass carp we were not bothered by anything else that lives in the lake. When we did see the lake owner they were friendly and chatty.
Ideally you definitely need a bait boat to fish the lake effectively
Overall we had a good week and the lake is really nice but i do think for what you are paying for the week it could be improved in comparison for what you would get for £1800+ in the UK, the difference is massive. I can also see why people love to fish this lake though.
4 Anglers, we had a total of 29 carp from 12lbs to 48lbs
8 over 40lbs, a thew 30s, 2 under 20lbs and the rest were 20+ up.
22 of the Carp we caught on 18mm Mainline CELL
If you go to my TikTok (@mattie2101) with in the next week there will be all the swims, catch spots, baits used, the amazing lodge and all the fish caught.
Negatives (there’s not many)
The shower 🚿 was unusable, as it was to hot 🥵 or to cold 🥶 (how ever I believe this will be sorted)
These are more advice for the owner:
Swim one could do with being bigger to in-able getting two bivves down there and put maybe bark or astroturf down as it does get muddy in the rain.
Positives
It’s a beautiful well maintained lake,
The fish looked in good health.
The lake was clean and tidy.
The owner and staff were approachable, nice and polite,
The lodge well that is something else – the shower 🚿 lol 😂,
It was clean and tidy when we got there,
It has the best heating system (please see videos)
Two nice bedrooms, a massive kitchen/living/dining area.
It has all the amenities, fridge, big Freezer, cooker, microwave, toast, kettle, and so much more…..
It looks over the lake.

Had a great week at Island Lake. Lakdar and Paul were very helpful and supplied good quality bait.
3 of us fished the lake and all had good fish with lots of 40lb + and a 51lb .
Nice lodge with hot shower , toilet and kitchen facilities.
All in all a good venue 🎣🎣
We had a brilliant week at the Island Lake with over 85 fish landed between all 4 of us.
The fishing was brilliant, all of the fish caught were in immaculate condition.
It didn’t matter if the carp was 15lb or 40lb they all put up an amazing battle.
Fish landed
1x 55lb
11x 40s
27x 30s
27x 20s
19x 10s (between 15lbs x 19lbs)
Only thing we would say is the swims could do with a little work and neatening up, also a new boat for the lake would be great as the one there is very old and starting to rust in areas.
The krays in one area caused a slight issue but nothing major. Hard hookers worked.
The lodge for the most part was great, the lights in the bedrooms didn’t work and the main shower head was faulty but not a big issue.
Hello
We have just returned from Island lake 5/4/25 – 11/4/25
79 carp was landed
Including x 1 55.14
X7 40s to 49.12
Rest 20s and 30s
3 of us from the tackle company planned a trip to island lakes in France.
The lake was in a very rural and peaceful location, the lodge facilities were excellent and the lake was well looked after. The fishing was great as you can see from the numbers I have provided. The owner was very accommodating and welcoming!
Bait boats are allowed on this lake but we didn’t use them, by our numbers it goes to show you don’t need to use one here.
Pictures in size order to follow…
Great week, very cold winds and frost, didn’t stop the fishing but definitely slowed down takes, we landed 39 carp from low doubles to 56.4
3 below 20
15 20s to 29.8
12 30s to 39.12
7 40s to 49.9
2 50s to 56.4
Lakdar the owner is very nice and helpful, there will be a YouTube video out soon on our session.. we’d definitely come back, thank you to majestic for making such a easy process for booking 🇫🇷
24 fish caught in total up to nearly 50 pound, all fish caught were in good condition and some really nice ones too, lodge very good and came in handy when cooking / showering etc. The swims need money spending on them as they are in poor condition. There is no steps down to the swims which can become very dangerous at night or when wet when getting to your rods. In general they need a good overhaul.
Another busy week at the magnificent Island lake.
Despite a heavy frost and cold north easterly winds we had a great week.
15 grass carp up to 45-8 lb
41 carp up to 48-8 lb
Including 17 x 30’s
and 5 x 40s
The fish fought really hard so we didn’t fish nights due to aching arms and backs!
Lakdars up and coming stocked fish are really beautiful and will be amazing when they reach 30 or 40 lbs which they will do soon!
The lake was in a lovely remote location. Lots of rain early in our week seemed to get the fish feeding well. We had 90 fish between two anglers. Crayfish weren’t much of an issue as the baits never stayed out to long as we either caught or moved spots regularly. We had 5 x 50’s 13 x 40’s and 39 x 30’s. Great weeks fishing!
Just got back from an amazing session 17-24 Aug with 68 fish landed between the 4 of us from all over the lake.
4 x 40s (43.12, 2×45 & 46) all commons
32 x 30s lots mid to upper range. incl 2 grass carp to 33.
21 x 20s
11 doubles
Great week considering we heard it had been fishing hard recently. We had to graft for these numbers as they moved away from spots quickly. Only 1 fish from around the islands.
Crayfish present but not really a problem as all fish caught on bottom baits. Night time we either used hardened baits, but super wrap was best as you knew they would still be on in the morning.
One thing we found refreshing baits worked if nothing in 4hours, put back in same spot and bang in a few minutes we were in. This was quite a consistent theme.
Accommodation fine and plenty of hot water, though the gas bottle ran out by day 5.
Biggest nuisance were the grass carp, come in like bream then go mental in the net or on the mat, if only they acted like that while playing them.
Take a wheel barrow and wellies for the far swims.
Would definitely go back and recommend. Finally more than enough room for 4 anglers, 2 in double and the two in the singles up the other end. Amazing time by all of us and would definitely return and recommend.
The lake was amazing, the lodge is brilliant especially to relax and chill out. The fish are absolutely immaculate, between 3 of us we managed to catch 16 fish. Including 3x40s two of which where grass carp, 5x30s one of which was a grass carp, 6x20s one of which was an immaculate ghostie and two doubles. The weather played a big part in not catching more as it was scorching for three days and we had some massive thunderstorms with lightning which meant we didn’t have the rods in the lake for the best part of two days. And a trip to the local hospital as one of our party fell and broke a wrist. The balif was very knowledgeable and a lovely person to try and help catch some more. All round great trip
Nice week at Island Lake; Accommodation clean and spacious. Comfortable beds but cooker was temperamental – oven only worked on one setting and kept extinguishing itself so had to keep an eye on it at all times. Huge crayfish issue which we were not aware of – had to use pop-up’s on all rods and these were still nibbled by the crayfish! Couldn’t use the bait we intended to use due to this. 12 fish between 2 fisherman all week with one breaking his PB with a 44lb 6oz Common. Biggest fish caught was 46lb 13oz Common. Issues with uploading photos so unsure if they will show on this review. Most fish caught around the Island furthest left from the lodge. The weather was averaging at 25 degrees so the fish fed mainly during the night with only 2 fish caught during daylight hours. Never saw the lake owner but a friendly and helpful maintenance worker checked in with us twice during the week to ensure everything was ok.
We have just returned from a great week at Island lake. 3 anglers had a total of 57 fish.
This included:
2 x 50s
7 x 40s
20 x 30s
22 x 20s
6 x Doubles
A really nice lake that is ideal for 3 anglers. We think 4 would be very tight. Majority of fish came from the far margin.
All fish caught on fake sweetcorn due to a big problem with crayfish in the lake, which was not advertised on the website. Boilies were gone within 2hours. This issue really needs to be resolved as we took a lot of bait we just couldn’t use.
Facilities were brilliant and professionally cleaned before we arrived. Water was always hot and plenty of electric sockets.
The lake owner was a nice gentleman and popped over twice, but left us alone to get on with it.
A small supermarket is less than 10 mins away, however it is expensive compared to the ones 15-20 mins away.
Overall a very enjoyable trip with some fantastic fish. Just a shame about the crayfish, I think we would have had even more fish if we could have used the tactics we had planned.
Just returned from Island Lake and had a fantastic weeks fishing . Host , excellent and accommodating. Facilities excellent. Fish in excellent condition
what a trip we had! We had 24 fish between us and probably lost another 15 between us! The fish were stunning and the accommodation was even better! Thank you for allowing us to book your place out and letting us catch some of these absolutely stunning fish! We will
Definitely be back to try catch the big girls next year! Biggest we had was a 47lb 7oz common carp!
we had a mental trip on Islands lake landing 107 fish between 2 of us including 15 x 40’s to 49.12 and 22 x 30’s! I couldn’t keep 3 rods in the water at the start of the week when the temps were warm so had to reel in at night to get some sleep lol! Slowed down a bit when wind changed from the north and temps dropped. What a week, thanks
Another great week at one of Majestic carps lakes
The accommodation was large but could do with a clean.
The lake owner Lakdar was really nice, spoke good English and popped in every couple of days to see us.
The weather was up and down with temperatures ranging from 28 degrees to 6 degrees some nights.
The fishing was great and the fish fought really hard especially the big long commons.
Total fish for the week were
1x bream
1x tench
11x grass carp to 32-04lb
51x carp to 51-06
Including
1x 50
6x 40’s
20×30’s
24x 20’s
11x Doubles wish mostly were lovely scaley mirrors and good for the lakes future .
Just arrived back from Island Lake and found the fishing excellent. Been to France on previous occasions, caught mainly fat pigs but these fish were like F1 racing cars . Very long carp, in brilliant condition, excellent fighters . Some tricky takes, tactics were figured out after a couple of days . My son Robbie, caught the biggest at 51lb and between us we caught approx 35 fish , lots in mid 40lb, high 30lb and few 25/26lb. Highly recommended for good fighting fish . The other two members of our party had 10 fish between them ranging from 20 to 40plus lb.
The lake is wild in places . Take plenty of bait .
Very disappointed 4 of us turned up to fish the two double swims, but the double at the far end of the lake is a single at best, the double outside the lodge is a struggle for two the single to the right of the lodge is one rod only. There is a made up swim to the left of the double near the lodge but no room for a Bivvy, we ended up fishing 3 of us on the double in front of the lodge with only two rods each, the other to the left of us again only two rods , the swims were poor, it’s was a squeeze , we caught fish all good quality. The lodge is fine , fridge, freezer, toilet , shower , electric and water, we couldn’t get the cooker to work but we had our own so didn’t bother us, so to sum up good stock of fish, good lodge, poor swims not enough room for 4
Very hot week!! In fact, the heat/storms saw me off by the Wednesday evening. (high 30’s and 100% humidity). However, weather aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this lake. I’ve been travelling to France for 30+ years and it’s getting slightly harder to find ‘wild’ waters, and although this is obviously a managed lake, it has all the features I enjoy, remoteness, excellent margins, islands and a lovely head of carp. This is another lake where you need to have a good think about approach. The lake is shallowest near the lodge and deepens to around 8-9ft at the sluice (farthest from the house). Margins and islands fish well, but these carp fight hard, so you need to be on your rods all the time they’re in, or you’ll lose them. I managed 12 fish to 46.2, with a 41.8 common and another 5 30’s. Many people come here and land a lot of fish, and the carp are super lean and long, and very fit!
As ever, JP at Majestic was very helpful, and the owner was a pleasure to get to know as we discussed our backgrounds and found we knew a lot of the same people in France. I’m already looking to book another week next year, perhaps not in mid summer!
4th time been with you.. lake ok fish nice (that’s what we go for )
Facilities good . Shower ,sink, fresh water…
But fish is the main. Nice shape not just over fed fat pigs..long and fit good fight ..
Enjoyable . see majestic next year
A great lake, full of carp.
Fishing is extremely easy, I had 76 carp and a lot of the time only fished 1 rod (no nights).
Great location, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, yet the supermarket etc is not far away.
Facilities where great for us. They are not luxury but good enough you our needs.
The owner was extremely friendly and very helpful.
Once again Majestic carp were exceptionally helpful with the booking.
Good evening anthony , I noticed you did quit well on island lake last year in july . I actually going from july 15th this year .
any tips you can give me to try and catch some of these carp ?

21 x 20s

August 5, 2024 at 1:59 pmThe lake was amazing, the lodge is brilliant especially to relax and chill out.

July 28, 2024 at 9:42 amNice week at Island Lake; Accommodation clean and spacious.

July 16, 2024 at 8:53 amWe have just returned from a great week at Island lake.

April 21, 2024 at 12:23 pmwe had a mental trip on Islands lake landing 107 fish between 2 of us including 15 x 40’s to 49.12 and 22 x 30’s! I couldn’t keep 3 rods in the water at the start of the week when the temps were warm so had to reel in at night to get some sleep lol! Slowed down a bit when wind changed from the north and temps dropped. What a week, thanks

October 9, 2023 at 8:43 amAnother great week at one of Majestic carps lakes

September 12, 2023 at 3:51 pmJust arrived back from Island Lake and found the fishing excellent.

September 11, 2023 at 12:06 pmVery disappointed 4 of us turned up to fish the two double swims, but the double at the far end of the lake is a single at best, the double outside the lodge is a struggle for two the single to the right of the lodge is one rod only.

August 21, 2023 at 9:13 am12th – 19th August

July 6, 2023 at 8:54 amA great lake, full of carp.
