Firstly, I’d like to say how amazing Suzie is, she makes the lakes better than they already are. Attentive, v approachable and really helpful.
We had 14 fish – five 40s – all in pristine condition.
The facilities are all you need for a comfortable week of fishing.
We’ll definitely be booking to come back next year.
Thank you majestic carp

I had a brilliant week on La Plaine 1 & ended up with 27x fish in total with my catch report as follows

Had a brilliant time with our group catching 24 brilliant fish.
We had an amazing experience with something very unique and amazing happening. Caught something very special on video that speaks very loudly about the peace and tranquility surrounding these lakes.
Got plenty of them. Nice 61lb blonde catfish and a good few mirrors in the 40’s. Nice grass carp at 36lb.
we have currently just got back from a week at la plaine 1 booked through yourself, these are the fish we had caught, 42 fish in total ranging for 22lbs to 54lbs and a few cat fish also, the lake and facilities were amazing and it was a trip of a life time, thank you ever so much and we will be back next year
Turned up to be met by Suzzie … who was very friendly and was only at the end the phone if we needed anything ….was hard going to start with, lovely looking lake and great facilities … fish are in excellent condition and give you a great fight … had a few out most falling to Luke … with it finishing off with him getting a pb ….. smallest a 16lbs albino catfish … a nice 33lbs 6oz Common a couple of mirrors from 25lbs 4oz to 36lbs 10oz and a lovely mirror of 50lbs 7ozs ….. will most definitely be looking to go back
First thing I would like to do is make a special mention to Suzie, she met us on the lake when we arrived and come down to see us a few times during our stay. She was very helpful and offered to do any translating if we were stuck and even offered to bring us stuff down from the local supermarket.
The fishing in general was excellent. My only one gripe is the amount of snags around both lakes. Not because it makes the fishing more difficult but more because its dangerous for the fish. La Plaine 1 was hard going as it was full of Crayfish, hook baits were being stripped so bare this in mind. We didn’t seem to have any issues in La Plaine 2.
The facilities were EXCELLENT, you have everything and more for a fishing trip. Toilets and shower block was also superb.
Overall the fishing was superb and I would recommend this lake to anyone. if you can get an exclusive hire it really is a great social with mates.
Hello mate, seems you had a good time at La Plaine. We are scheduled for a week in mid October and wanted to know if you’d be happy to share some info on the place and tactics if that’s okay?
Booking admin and organisation absolutely first class Facilities and conditions at the lake also first class Fish stock and condition of fish excellent The fishing The lake is a good size for 2 anglers (3 at a pinch) The lake is 13ft deep with a featureless bottom and very steep banks The banks are lined with mainly small shrubs and trees with little access other than the excellent main peg and 2 overgrown little pegs. Tree roots form snags in many areas along the margins, there is no weed or obstacles in the main body of water.
The conditions during our week were quite strange, a cold main body of water and very hot bright condition produced very warm upper layers. The vast majority of the fish were between 2 and 4ft below the surface we didn’t see a single fish on the bottom. (We used DeeperSmartSonar and bait boat sonar) The banks are so steep it was not practical to cast to the far margin but we could walk a bait boat round place a bait on clear flattish spots inches from the bank, this was hard work but successful.
We tried zigs but had little success, neither of us are experienced zig anglers so no doubt could have been better.
We tried to induce bottom feeding with a large amount of bait at the bottom of the shelf with a trail up the shelf but nothing other than poisson chat visited the spot.
Our catch was a disappointing 13 fish to 38lb, but I’m sure that in view obviously excellent fish stock better angling would have done better. (I could see between 10 and 30 fish every time I walked around the lake) We could see literally thousands of poison chat in writhing balls in one corner of the margin but we had very little trouble from them.
I think once the water temperature is spread more evenly the fishing would become much easier.
