Some important works have been effected to bring back the beauty of this charming spot and increase the lake’s potential. The stream feeding the lake, year-round, has been diverted from its original course by more than 400m. Around 5000m of tree-stumps and submerged trees have been cleared to gain more lake-space and improve fishing conditions.
Banks have been redone, a gravelled swim created which accommodates 2 bivvies and allows 180 degree fishing. Islets, a few remaining tree-stumps and submerged trees, reeds, plus muddy or pebbly areas…you can find all this at Ecaille Lake , with depths down to 3 metres.
After multiple works on the lake, a re-stock of around 70 carp of 20-32 lbs was also realised. After 2 years of leaving the lake to itself, the results are way beyond expectation; the carp have grown impressively solely on natural food sources. Today, the average weight is over 30lbs, with a record catch of 42lbs. None of them is under 23lbs (average : 30 lbs). with this stunning evolution, there’s no doubt that the 45lb barrier will soon be passed. Remember as well, the 2 sturgeon of 35 and 66 lbs which will give you as good a fight as you’ve had so far.
