Lake
This 20-acre lake was created in the Middle Ages as an iron ore quarry. From its banks, you will have a fabulous view of the chateau, which overlooks the lake, and the magnificent, natural surroundings.
There are 6 swims, including one double, all of which have been equipped to ensure your optimal angling experience and comfort (WIFI + electricity). The only thing which can possibly interrupt your peace and quiet is your own alarm !
The lake is fed by the river L’Avre, guaranteeing a constant flow of fresh water. Therefore, oxygen for the carp is continuous and they are active all year.
You will find high-quality facilities along the lake-side. there are 3 separate showers, 3 WCs, 2 large sinks, a kitchen, refrigerator, freezer and electricity points. You may unload your car at your swim before parking it in the car park.
The complexity of the lake makes it impossible to net and drain. So, until they are caught, we can't know what fish the lake holds since its conception in the mediaeval period. An exciting prospect for any angler! There had been no fishing until 2011! The first fishing tests were very satisfactory with beautiful common carp up to 40 lbs. However, what we can be sure of is what carp have been added since then.
The first part of a major stocking programme took place in 2013 : A total weight of 4,500 lb was stocked comprising carp between 30 and 50 lb and 10 sturgeon between 20 and 30 lb. Following on was another stock of 7 carp between 45 and 55 lb.
New in 2017 !! 3 carp between 50 – 58 lbs, 10 carp between 25 – 35 lbs, and the big one, a common of 67 lbs !!

April 7, 2026 at 8:43 amThis lake is everything you could imagine the perfect carp fishery should be, a 20 acre lake set in the grounds of a Chateau.
I was accompanied with my wife and booked the lake side lodge, the standard of which was exceptional high with great detail for a holiday rental, probably too good for fishermen on their own.
I managed a total of 17 takes of which resulted in 12 carp ranging from 20lb to one of the lake specimens, a 52lb common,
2 lost fish,
2 Sturgeon and one 30 pound grass carp, considering the conditions atmospheric pressure at 1034 I was pleasantly surprised with the result.
This is a great place for a French carp trip, however I would not consider this a big fish venue, the lake definitely holds lumps but most of the fish stock are low to mid twenty pounders, but great sport !🎣

April 2, 2024 at 12:59 pmGreat trip and lovely host who was welcoming and wanted to help in everyway possible! We had a bit of a difficult time with weather frosts at the start of the week, to gale force winds and rain but still managed to land over 20+ carp between me and my friend weighing up to 39lb 7oz including a sturgeon each, which was a new one for us. We both agree we hope to return with plans to hit some of the bigger fish. Highly recommend!

May 31, 2023 at 10:08 amthe lake is stunning, and we stayed in the fisherman’s gite, which was great and very well equipped. Julie is a fantastic host, was there in quick time if you needed her but left you alone if that’s what you wanted. The fishing was very difficult. We were in 3,4 & 5 and the were no fish in front of us. Nothing showing at all. Two fish caught in swim 1 and 8 from swim 6. We managed one small carp and a sturgeon, so not great. The fish were clearly held up somewhere but not feeding. Possibly getting ready to spawn and the cool North Easterly blowing all week may not have helped

September 26, 2022 at 9:27 amWhere do I start? An incredible lake in a beautiful setting. Host Julie was fantastic from when we arrived to when we left, very informative and you can see they proper care about the anglers. The facilities were just as good, kitchen had all the necessities you need for a weeks fishing, cooker with oven, fridge freezer etc. Showers and toilets were immaculate and the showers were lovely!
Onto the lake its self, all pegs were on one side of the lake which is ideal for a social, we had 7 of us there and we all had masses of water to fish too could easily be a 10-12 peg lake on the one bank but nice to have a lot of water to fish each.
The fishing was a touch slow due to the 25 degrees in the day and 4 degrees in the night. Our group managed 9 fish, but on the last night it turned mild with lows of 12 degrees and a sprinkle of rain. We had more bites Friday- Saturday than we did all week which proves we wasn’t doing anything wrong just they switched off due to the high and low temps.
One of our group managed to get a 60lb 1oz common which was an absolute stunning fish! Majority silt with the odd hard patch here and there. Peg 1 deepest at 14ft near the wall, upto 4-6ft in peg 6. Most of our bites came from the far bank in only 2.5ft of water so just because its shallow don’t be scared to chuck a rig. Fish were active and showing themselves so not so difficult to locate. Very little snags to worry about. Check out the drain down video on YouTube for an insight.
We are looking to rebook for 2024 in the hopes the weather is slightly kinder to us.
A perfect place for 5-7 anglers to have a great social week after the big chunks.
