Lake
At approximately 11 acres, La Métairie is a former gravel pit with plenty of underwater variation to explore. The lake reaches around 2.8 metres at its deepest point, with large areas of firm sand and gravel alongside softer patches and natural weed.
Finding the right areas can make a real difference here. A marker rod or echo sounder will help anglers identify changes in depth, harder spots and clear areas amongst the weed. The shallower bay towards the western and north-western side of the lake is also well worth watching, particularly when fish begin showing.
One of the lake's main features is its central peninsula. From here, anglers can reach a significant amount of water and keep an eye on fish movement across several areas at once. The layout is particularly sociable, allowing four anglers to fish close together, while alternative bivvy positions provide the option to split into two pairs and approach the lake differently.
Surrounded by mature trees and established vegetation, La Métairie has a secluded atmosphere throughout. Standard carp tackle is suitable, although anglers visiting during the warmer months should be prepared for periods of heavier weed growth and adapt their rigs and presentation accordingly.
