£2750 without exclusivity // +£350 for lake exclusive hire // Rotier + Sapiniere : £5200
852 Rte de Contres, 41250 Fontaines-en-Sologne, France
Rotier is a 15-acre lake just 100 metres from the lodge. You will be able to use any swim you wish and freely fish the entire lake. As the owner is a fish-farmer, you will encounter some spectacular carp which will give you the fight of your life. Re-stocking is done every year to augment it and to keep the angling interesting.
As the depths are only down to about 1 m 50, you will find the challenge of combat even greater. Up to you to play!
For large groups/big families, you can rent Rotier and Sapiniere which are both part of the same domain. In that case, you would have both lodges (up to 20 people) and 3 lakes (14 anglers maximum)
The average weight is around 25 lbs but there are many fish of over 35 lbs. there’s a strong population of Grass Carp up to 51 lbs. Finally, the kings of the lake are the catfish, though not in superior numbers, the specimen record is high; you have a good chance of catching one of these monsters, weighing up to 178 lbs and measuring more than 2m20.
In the lodge are 3 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. Upstairs is a double sofa-bed, giving sleeping for a maximum of 10 people. There’s also a billiards, table football, a well-stocked bookcase and several games (board games etc). Much more than a Lodge; you will rent a property of 150 acres which is partially enclosed, to allow free movement of wild animals.
A 10 person, comfortable fishing lodge is available ("Rotier Lodge 1"). There are large bedrooms, each equipped with a hifi player. For truly enjoyable family moments, there’s a large living room with open-plan kitchen, also equipped with TV and hifi player. A bathroom, separate shower-room and 2 WCs (separate) complete the ensemble. The lodge is a real leisure/sports centre for the family; private tennis court (equipment provided), heated swimming pool with wave machine! A lovely patio, equipped with top-of-the range-Weber barbecue and heated parasol allows a lake view, no matter the weather.
For large groups/big families, you can rent Rotier and Sapiniere which are both part of the same domain.

2. Rods are NEVER left unattended
3. Barbed hooks, braids and dangerous mounts are prohibited. THE MATERIAL MAY BE CHECKED AT ANY TIME.
4. Very thick landing mats are compulsory and will be checked before the stay.
5. All unhooking mats, nets and slings are to be wet before use.

Remember to visit the local Zoo of Beauval and its famous pandas, Huan-Huan and Yuan Zi. There is also the wine route to explore. Gastronomy is the region’s strong point; you can try local strawberries, asparagus and goats’s cheese.
Finally, there are outdoor sports (golf, horse-riding, canoeing) to be enjoyed, plus exploring the Loire by bicycle, and Montgolfier balloon flights.

September 17, 2023 at 5:41 pmI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rotier.Weather was very hot ,so I fished late afternoons until midnight most days.Managed to catch 17 carp up to 35lbs.Most of those came from the margin area, and I caught only three from my open water spot about 60yards out.I had to step up my gear to manage the cats! After changing to 20lb mono I managed to land a few of these beasts ,up to about 70lb.All but a few fell to boilies, but I did manage a few smaller carp on float fished maize also. Thanks to Amel and Pascal for the nice lunch and great tennis!Special place, only negative is the road which can get a bit noisy at times.

August 7, 2023 at 4:06 pmWent to Rotier during the first week in July with my wife and two grown up boys, (in their 20’s). Welcome was very friendly, and everything is made clear before a ‘safari’ around the extensive grounds. Gite was large and spacious, although bathrooms were on the dated/small side. Overall though, it had everything we needed, and the pool table proved a hit. The heated, salt water pool was lovely and used a lot as it was very warm.
I didn’t fish 24/7, and only a few hours in the morning and afternoon/evening with 2 overnights. I caught 20 fish up to 38lbs, and amongst these were a number of small catfish, which was slightly annoying. (sub 3lb’s) There are a lot of cats in the lake, and they like boilies, (I had cats up to 42lbs and lost a much larger one that took me around the lake!) Even after switching away from fishmeal baits, they still persisted, so if you like cats, then this lake is a good option. The fishing was still enjoyable although not totally tranquil with the national road literally on one bank.
The family really enjoyed the week, and that is a big tick for me.

It’s a perfect place for kids to have fun and grown ups to relax. The house is so well equipted and the air con. work a treat. Many thanks

May 10, 2021 at 9:03 amGreat week from 15 to 22 April 2017.
Exceptional setting and environment, the owner is very nice and welcoming. Due to the negative temperatures the fishing was difficult but the big fish are well present. The only drawback is the national road too close to the lake, which spoils the morning peace and quiet… heated swimming pool, table tennis, tennis courts, table football, billiards…etc. Everything is there and it’s hard to get bored.
I loved this beautiful week and I will return with great pleasure and especially very quickly.
