Welcome to Morlière, an exceptional lake on Majestic Carp’s books. This lake promises you a great compromise on regular catches and a chance to beat your PB. Nothing is a give-away, though; you will have to use some clever strategies to catch the biggest fish.
First of all, with regard to bait, we advise use of small boilies 14-18mm diameter. Fruity and spicy flavours work well. We’ve noted that a floating ‘popup’ or floating fake corn work well. Each angler has his/her preferences with regard to bait but we recommend Dynamite boilies or all the Mainline range
For baiting, all mixes based on corn, micro-pellets and hempseed work well. All methods are worth a try. If the fish don’t seem to be taking, don’t hesitate to be heavy handed with the baiting to ensure catches. For more difficult sessions, hohwever, you’d be better to favour small baits, particularly the PVA bags. For better, more accurate baiting, and set-up, we advise you to use a bait-boat but if you don’t have one, then prospect all the areas of the lake for hand-baiting.
We recommend to prospect around the islets first. The strait between the 2 islets is a real hot-spot! Remember, also, the banks are usually quite productive areas, particularly for big sturgeon. The depths don’t vary much, so the best areas are those where the fish pass.
When you arrive, please park your vehicle in the designated area and use the barrows provided—unless you have special dispensation to park nearer to your post.
For angling, please use set-ups which protect the carp, specifically, un-barbed or micro-barbed hooks.
Grains are forbidden.
For sturgeon, do not use landing nets; rather handle them as much as possible in the water.
When taking photos, keep the fish wet as best as possible and make sure you are above grassy/weed zones.
For your food-shopping, there is a superette (Proxi) about 3km from the lake in Authon du Perche.
The Eure-et-Loire department of France is situated to the north of the Centre (Loire Valley) region, south-west of Paris. Although not home to the most famous chateaux of the region, there are still several attractive castles to visit, and some other very interesting highlights.
Undoubtedly, the focus of most visits, and the best known sight here, is Chartres, above all, Chartres cathedral, which is a protected World Heritage Site. The town of Chartres has an old quarter which is delightful to visit.
