Struggling week for a few of them but two of us done really well having 28 carp between us , biggest being 40 .Total carp between 6 of us 37. The facilities aren’t brilliant but hey we are there to fish . The carp in here thou did fight which was great .
🔥 Scorching Week on the Lake (20th June – 27th June)
Last week’s trip can only be described as hot, hot, hot, with temperatures topping out at a brutal 44°C. Conditions like that made things tough all round — the fish weren’t feeding much during the day, and the patchthecatch co-uk anglers certainly felt it too.
Thankfully, there’s a Super Marché just 10 minutes away, so we were able to keep stocked up on bottled water and beer — and we definitely needed both.
As expected in those conditions, the fish switched their feeding patterns to the cooler windows. Dawn and dusk were the key times, with the carp really coming alive as the heat dropped off.

🎣 The Results
Despite the challenging conditions, it turned into a memorable session:
• 2 × Personal Best Tench smashed
o 8.4lb
o 7.7lb
• Personal Best Carp
o A cracking 38lb mirror
The odd big Tench made an appearance alongside the carp, adding some great variety to the catches. Please keep these Tench they are in great condition and one of my favourite fish (old mossback)
Killer bait of the week:
Curry flavoured boilies (Powerball) & Sweet Plum Seed dipped in strawberry attractant with half a nutz popup (don’t ask)

🌿 The Lake Itself
The lake is stunning to look at, but it’s not without its dangers. There are a few hidden snags to be aware of — we even managed to pull out a sunken branch, which shows exactly what’s lurking beneath the surface.
One interesting point: the crayfish activity seemed concentrated to the left of the clubhouse, just off the island, with hardly any presence elsewhere — a bit odd, but definitely worth noting for bait placement.

👍 Overall Impression
We absolutely love this lake. It’s not overly difficult to fish, the carp aren’t too tricky to catch, and the average size sits comfortably in the upper 20s.
It’s a perfect venue for anyone looking to cut their teeth on a French fishing trip — rewarding without being overly punishing.

🌊 Bonus Water
Don’t overlook the river just behind the premises either. It holds some quality fish:
• Plenty of chub and eels
• We landed a 13lb mirror carp from there

✅ Final Verdict
A tough trip due to the heat, but one that delivered some serious personal bests and reminded us why we keep coming back.
Session stats:
• 33 fish caught overall
• 8 Tench (all over 6lb)
• 20 Carp
o 5 × 30s
o 13 × 20s
o 1 × 18lb
• 1 × 13lb (river mirror carp)
• Chub and eels making up the remainder

We shall return. 🎣
5 of us fished our 1st French social for a week from 2nd May 2026. 41 carp slipped over the cord and banked with numerous other fish lost. Only one Tench so that was a bonus. 1st fish came within 5 hrs a 47lb grass carp followed up with a 48 mirror during the same evening to myself.
I personally had 17 fish (1x 50 grass carp , 4 x 40’s 10 x 30’s and 2 upper 20’s )
One other member had 15 in total ranging from high doubles to 39lb
2 other 40’s were netted along with some 30’s inc another grassy at 36 lb
We strongly advise to use the bait recommended by the owner Cedric. Drop him a whattsapp and he will help you as much as possible. Order the bait from the fishery direct via the page once you’ve booked. Use matching hook baits and make sure you drop the leads, to avoid the numerous snags near the bars and margins.
The facilities were excellent no need for your cooking stoves the lodge is fully loaded with cooker fridge freezer power sockets ( take adapters) hit running water too.
The shower block is superb and a very welcome place to freshen up 👌
Only one downside is the track from the parking area, to the far pegs on the bay and needle point ! The ground is very rutted and very hard work with barrows unless you are a master boatman and use the small boat to transport your gear over the lake.
A simple solution would be for the Baliff to open the first gate near the needle and tractor store (150 yrd away ) and let you unload there if you draw those pegs, it would save an hour and half lumping your gear around on a barrow with 2 trips and picking gear up due to the uneven ground
Cederic the owner made contact every day fir an update and pictures of catches and visited with fresh baked pastries
All in all a great fishery with a challenge but very rewarding if you find the spots with the bait boat.
18th October to 26th.
Majestic carp faultless with the booking process and always answered any questions.
3 Rings the owner Cedric was excellent what ever i asked him got back to me, fridge broken when we got there and he had someone out with in the hour. Cooking cabin was sufficient for our stay, the shower was a little grubby but its amazing what a bit of bleach dose, this wouldn’t put us off the water was clean to shower in. The pathway round to the swims where very rutty to go around with the power barrow this could be sorted quit easily. We had 6 anglers on the lake had 38 fish between us the up to 45lb,3 other 40’s lots of 30’s & 20’s less productive swim was by the cabin? We loved the lake and the holiday was perfect for my group wild and great looking carp, we have booked again next year as soon as we got back would recommend.

We had such a good week down at 3 rings. The fishing was hard at times but when you do catch, the carp in there are beautiful! The lake has plenty of features and the facilities were exactly what we needed. Gas hob, recharge point and hot showers, perfect! Thank you Cedric! 🎣
An awesome week at The Three Rings bookable via Majestic Carp. Just 2 hours from Calais with an amazing mixed stock of unique carp. It’s not the easiest water with a fair amount of weed and pesky tench present but the rewards are well worth putting the work in. ❤️
Hi m8 be going there on 20th July for a week how much bait did u use and are 15 mil boilies OK I’ve ordered redacy to pick up wen I get there and u had some nice fish out fair play m8
9 fish in total.
Two commons 48lb 12oz and 47lb.
The rest were Mirrors from 28lb to 37lb 15oz.
The fishing was slow due to water being very low, understandable.
Well done Rob.
Got a week booked next spring, did you get any video of pictures of how the venue looks? Tips and advice are welcome too but trying to get a feel of the lake, where the swims are located etc really.
Cheers
